SAN ANTONIO – Winners of two consecutive matches, UTSA men's tennis will compete in a pair of matches over the weekend, hosting Nebraska on Saturday at 2 p.m. and traveling to face the defending NCAA Champions, Texas Longhorns, on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in Austin.
UTSA (2-2) posted a 7-0 sweep over UIW in the home opener on Wednesday and earned a win at Louisiana in its last match on Feb. 9 in Lafayette, La.
The Roadrunners have totaled a 14-10 record in singles in 2020 and a 7-3 mark in doubles. UTSA has won 12 of its last 14 points.
Freshman Sebastian Rodriguez (Trujillo, Peru) has shined early in his NCAA career, posting a 3-1 mark in singles and combining for a 4-0 record in doubles over a pair of pairings.
Senior Juri Reckow (Hamburg, Germany) has shined with a 4-0 mark in singles. Senior Kai Breitbach (Kaarst, Germany) owns a 2-1 record in singles and earned a doubles win in a pairing with Javier Rodriguez (Trujillo, Peru).
Sebastian Rodriguez and freshman Joao Alcantra (Santos, Brazil) own a team-leading 3-0 record in doubles, with Breitbach and Javier Gonzalez (San Fernando, Chile) posting a 2-0 mark as a pair.
The match at Texas will mark the first return trip to Austin by assistant coach Cullen Dees, who served as an assistant coach on the 2019 Texas National Championship team.
