Soccer opens conference action Sunday

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA soccer team opens conference play when it hosts Middle Tennessee on Sunday at 1 p.m.
 
All-time series

  • This is the fifth meeting between the two teams
  • UTSA leads the series 3-0-1
  • The last meeting between the Roadrunners and the Blue Raiders was Sept. 16, 2018 when the match ended in a 2-2 tie after double overtime
  • This is just the second time Middle Tennessee will play at Park West Athletics Complex and UTSA is 1-0 at home against the Blue Raiders

UTSA enters the contest with a 4-2-1 record after its non-conference slate.
 
The Roadrunners set a program record entering conference action with four wins and four shutouts. UTSA defeated Louisiana-Lafayette, 3-0, Grand Canyon, 4-0, Cleveland State, 3-0 and Houston Baptist, 1-0.
 
Texas State won the Aug. 30 matchup 1-0, while South Florida took the win with a 5-0 victory on Sept. 8.
 
Lexi Bolton and Ellis Patterson lead the team with three goals each, while Isa Hernandez takes the lead in assists with four. Senior Sophie Milich enters conference with a 3-0 record and 13 saves, leading the keepers.
 
Scouting Middle Tennessee
Middle Tennessee comes into the weekend with a 3-5-0 record and a five-game losing streak.
 
The Blue Raiders won their first three matches with wins over Evansville (5-1), Austin Peay (4-0) and Western Carolina (4-1), before dropping the next five contests.
 
Middle Tennessee fell to WKU, 1-0, Samford, 0-3, UT Martin, 1-2, UNC Wilmington, 1-5 and College of Charleston, 1-2.
 
Peyton DePriest leads the team with five goals on the season and 10 points. Sydney Chalcraft leads the goalkeepers with 17 saves and a 2-4-0 record.
