Softball hosts LA Tech this weekend

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA softball team hosts Louisiana Tech March 30-31 at Roadrunner Field.
 
Saturday's doubleheader is the annual Strikeout Cancer game in honor of Hope Ortiz. First pitch for both days is 1 p.m.
 
All-time series
This will be the 28th time and ninth series for the two teams to meet with UTSA leading the series 19-8. The last meeting between the two teams was April 14-15, 2018 when LA Tech won the series 3-0. The Lady Techsters are 1-9 at Roadrunner Field.
 
Scouting UTSA
UTSA (16-15, 6-3 C-USA) enters the weekend after splitting a doubleheader with BYU on Thursday.
 
The Cougars shutout the first game, 6-0 and the Roadrunners claimed the second game, 4-1.
 
Scouting LA Tech
The Lady Techsters (23-9, 4-2 C-USA) are coming into the series after a 10-5 victory over ULM.
 
Kimmie Atienza leads the team with a .431 batting average. In the circle, Krystal De La Cruz shines with a team-best ERA of 2.48.
 
Strikeout Cancer
On Saturday, there will be a silent auction with items for every kind of fan. Some of the items include an autographed football helmet, football tickets, softball helmet, signed softballs, gift cards and more. All proceeds will go to the South Central Texas Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The auction will be open during the first game and fans must be in attendance to bid.
