Women's basketball travels to UTEP

EL PASO – The UTSA women's basketball team is set to play UTEP on Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. CT at the Don Haskins Center.
 
All-time series
UTSA and UTEP are meeting for the 35th time in program history with the Roadrunners leading the series 22-12. The last meeting between the two teams was Jan. 5, 2019 when UTEP traveled to the Alamo City to open conference play and won 73-60.
 
The Roadrunners are 9-7 in El Paso. The last time UTSA played at the Don Haskins center was Feb. 23, 2018 and won 58-55.
 
Scouting UTSA
The Roadrunners (7-18, 2-11 C-USA) enter the contest after a 70-68 victory over Louisiana Tech last Saturday.
 
UTSA is led by Marie Benson who's averaging 15.5 points and 10.6 rebounds per game. Tija Hawkins is averaging 12.8 points and 5.8 rebounds and has hit double-digits in the last four of five games.
 
Scouting UTEP
UTEP (6-20, 3-10 C-USA) is coming off a 64-63 loss to Southern Miss on Feb. 16.
 
With 1.9 seconds remaining on the clock, Southern Miss shot a 3-pointer to take the victory. UTEP shot 52.6 percent from the floor and was led by Jordan Alexander and Ariona Gill, posting 14 points each.
 
The Miners have conference wins over UTSA, FIU and Florida Atlantic.

Saturday's contest will be streamed on ESPN+ with Colin Deaver serving as play-by-play and Izabela Piekarska as color analyst.
