Softball announces 2020 schedule

SAN ANTONIO – Entering her seventh season at the helm, UTSA softball head coach Michelle Cheatham announced the 2020 schedule on Thursday.
 
"We are looking forward to playing some great competition throughout the spring," Cheatham said. "Along with an always challenging conference schedule, we will be able to test our fight against some of the best in the country in our non-conference schedule."
 
The Roadrunners open the 2020 slate at the 34th annual Louisiana Classic/Cowgirl Classic Feb. 7-9. The Rajun Cajuns and McNeese State partnered up for the opening weekend tournament. UTSA will play four games in Lafayette before going to Lake Charles on Sunday to finish the tournament weekend. Pitching coach Jordan Wallace will coach against her alma mater twice (Feb. 7 and 8) during the weekend.
 
UTSA will host Houston Baptist at Roadrunner Field on Feb. 12 to open the homestand, before driving up I-35 to San Marcos for the Bobcat Classic Feb. 13-16. The Roadrunners will face host Texas State, Wichita State and Saint Louis during the weekend.
 
On Feb. 21-23, UTSA will travel to Arlington for the Boerner Invitational hosted by UT Arlington. The Roadrunners will take on the Mavericks, along with Kansas and Rutgers before continuing on in the tournament.
 
Rounding out the tournament season, UTSA will travel to Jacksonville, Ala. for the Jacksonville State Invite Feb. 28-29. The Roadrunners will face the Gamecocks and Samford twice throughout the tournament.
 
Opening Conference USA action, UTSA hosts North Texas March 6-8. The Roadrunners will play Marshall (April 3-5), WKU (April 17-19) and Southern Miss (24-26) at home this season.
 
UTSA travels to conference foes Louisiana Tech (March 13-15), UAB (March 27-29), UTEP (April 10-12) and Middle Tennessee (May 1-3) in 2020.
 
The Roadrunners will also play UIW, Lamar, Baylor, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Houston Baptist and Texas State for mid-week games throughout the season.
 
Closing out the 2020 season is the Conference USA Championship May 6-9 in Bowling Green, Ky.
