Women’s Tennis duo open 2018-19 in Corpus Christi

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -- UTSA women's tennis saw a pair of student-athletes compete in their first match of the year over the weekend at the CrossFit Islander Challenge, hosted by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi over the weekend.
 
Senior Charleen Tiwari, a native of Perth, Australia, and freshman Sophie Omoworare, a product of Plano, Texas, kicked off the season for the Roadrunners under the direction of first-year coach Ki Kroll.
 
Tiwari and Omoworare finished in third place in the Dolphin doubles draw with wins over Lamar's tandem before falling to the duo of Lisa Carvajal and Maya Donkor from Texas A&M-Kingsville. Tiwari and Omoworare posted a win over the team from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to finish in third.
 
In singles, Tiwari played a pair of matches and Omoworare earned her first career win with a 1-2 tournament.
