SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will welcome Rice and North Texas to the Convocation Center this weekend to open Conference USA action. The Roadrunners will host the Owls at 7 p.m. on Friday before taking on the Mean Green at 2 p.m. two days later.
UTSA enters its second C-USA campaign with a 5-7 overall record after wrapping up non-conference action with the UTSA Holiday Classic with a loss to South Dakota and win against SIU Edwardsville.
The Roadrunners are averaging 59.8 points an outing and they have the league’s third-best scoring defense at 57.5. UTSA also has climbed to second in the conference with 4.3 blocks per contest and fourth with 10.1 steals.
Earlier this week, Kamra King moved into the program's all-time top-10 scoring chart with 1,171 career points.
Rice (5-6) will travel to the Alamo City with an offense that averages 61.2 points per night and it allows 60.8. The Owls are coming off Tuesday's 77-54 loss at No. 3 Texas on Tuesday and they are 0-4 this season in true road contests. Jasmine Goodwine is the only player scoring in double figures with 11.6 per night.
Meanwhile, North Texas (1-10) will travel to El Paso before coming to San Antonio to take on the Roadrunners. The Mean Green is on a four-game losing skid with its last win coming at UMKC on Dec. 14. Briesha Wynn is leading UNT with 11.6 points and 7.0 rebounds per game.
