IRVING — Jesse Baker was named Conference USA Hitter of the Week following his performances during UTSA's four games last week, the league office announced on Monday.
Baker extended his hitting streak to 10 games and has now reached base in all 11 of the Roadrunners' games this season. The sophomore center fielder was 8-for-18 (.444) with five of his eight hits going for extra bases. Baker accumulated two doubles, a triple and belted a pair of home runs that helped him register 18 total bases, which translated to a 1.000 slugging percentage. In Sunday's series finale against South Dakota State, the Brenham native was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and four RBIs. He finished the week with six runs scored and seven RBIs.
It marked the first career conference player of the week award for Baker and the first for UTSA as a member of C-USA.
The Roadrunners (7-4) will return to action at 6 p.m. on Tuesday against cross-town foe Incarnate Word (3-8).
