Roadrunners to conclude five-match home stand this weekend

SAN ANTONIO ? UTSA will wrap up its home schedule this weekend when it welcomes Nicholls and Southeastern Louisiana to the Convocation Center on Friday (7 p.m.) and Saturday (2 p.m.), respectively. It will be the end of the Roadrunners' current five-match home stand.

Entering the second-to-last weekend of the season, the Roadrunners (17-9, 9-3 SLC) have won 16 of their last 19 contests and put themselves in position to win their second Southland Conference Regular Season Championship in school history. UTSA trails I-35 rival Texas State (11-1) by two tilts in the chase for the league title. Lamar, which was swept by UTSA last Saturday, is one-and-a-half contests back at 9-2.

Nicholls, which has lost eight of its past 11 matches, comes into Friday's tilt with a 7-15 overall record and 4-8 mark in league play. The Roadrunners have swept the Colonels in the last four matchups and lead the all-time series that dates back to the 1991 campaign, 20-9. Prior to the match, UTSA will honor seniors Audrey Hiser, Rebecca Hrapmann and Gena Rhodes for their contributions to the program.

Southeastern has dropped three of its last four matches and enters its Friday match at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi with a 9-14 overall record and 3-9 mark in SLC play. The Lady Lions have lost the last four meetings with the Roadrunners, all of which have been sweeps, and trail the all-time series that dates back to the 1997 season, 15-5.
