Week In Review:
UTSA dropped a twinbill at No. 5 Texas last Tuesday, Feb. 21, in Austin. Senior Mel Torres led off game one with a solo home run off Olympian Cat Osterman, but the Longhorns fought back for a 5-1 win. Texas completed the sweep with an 8-0 victory in the nightcap. A doubleheader at Prairie View A&M last Saturday was postponed because of rain.

Tough Stretch:

After opening the season by winning the Las Cruces Hilton Invitational on Feb. 10-12, UTSA played five straight games — all on the road — against teams that qualified for last year’s NCAA Tournament. The Roadrunners lost a doubleheader at No. 9 Texas A&M, a team that advanced to the Super Regional round last year, dropped a single game at Oklahoma State on Feb. 16, and fell twice to No. 5 Texas, a national semifinalist in 2005.

Going, Going, Gone:

UTSA has led the NCAA in home runs per game in each of the last three seasons. The Roadrunners are off to a great start with 24 in their first 10 contests (2.40 per game). Dating back to the beginning of the 2003 season, UTSA has slugged an amazing 308 home runs in 174 games (1.77 average).

No Place Like Home:

UTSA has made Roadrunner Field a tough place to play for opponents. The Roadrunners are 32-4 (.889) at the facility over the past two seasons and have won eight straight and 27 of their last 28 home games.
