Roadrunners in seventh after 18 holes at Lady Indian Classic

JONESBORO, Ark. – Led by a three-over-par round of 75 by sophomore transfer Stephanie Perez, the UTSA women’s golf team is in seventh place after the first round of the Lady Indian Classic held Monday at Sage Meadow Golf Course (6,104 yards/par 72).

Perez is in a tie for sixth place after a 38-37 card in the first 18 holes, only four strokes behind first-round lead Angela Drane of Louisiana-Monroe (35-36=71).

The Roadrunners, competing in their second-ever collegiate event, are in seventh place after a 317, just five shots out of Murray State for second place in the tight field. Louisiana-Monroe leads at 303.

Also competing for UTSA, freshmen Laura Baker and Allie Jordan are tied for 19th (38-40=78) and 30th (41-39=80), respectively, while sophomore Michelle Kowalick (T-56th/84) and freshman Jenna Wessels (T-61st/85) round out the top five.

The final round tees off at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
