FRISCO — Junior Tyler Williamson was named Southland Conference Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday. It marks the third consecutive week that a UTSA athlete has taken home the circuit's top weekly honor (sophomore Keyunta Hayes has won the last two weeks).

Williamson became just the third Roadrunner to surpass the 25-foot barrier in the long jump on Saturday at the Bobcat Classic. The Houston native broke the sand in a wind-aided 25-6 (7.77m) and that added more than a half foot to his previous career best established four weeks ago at the Texas Relays. The performance extended his conference lead to nearly a foot and it also vaulted him to fifth place on the national leaderboard. He fell just three-quarters of an inch short of current UTSA jumps coach Steven Brown's school record set six years ago.

The Roadrunners have this weekend off before returning to action on Friday, May 11, when they begin competition at the three-day Southland Outdoor Championships in San Marcos.
