ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) released its 2012 football schedule on Monday and UTSA will open its first season in the league on Sept. 29 at New Mexico State.
The Roadrunners will host San Jose State on Oct. 20 and Utah State a week later before a Nov. 3 trip to defending conference champion Louisiana Tech. The slate continues on Nov. 17 at Idaho before I-35 rival Texas State comes to the Alamodome the following Saturday for the Nov. 24 season finale.
UTSA will open the year with non-conference contests against South Alabama (Sept. 1 in Mobile, Ala.), Texas A&M-Commerce (Sept. 8 at the Alamodome), Georgia State (Sept. 15 in Atlanta, Ga.) and Northwestern Oklahoma State (Sept. 22 at the Alamodome) before heading to Las Cruces to face the Aggies. The Roadrunners' other non-WAC games are at Rice (Oct. 13) and against McNeese State (Nov. 10).
All UTSA home contests will kick off at 1 p.m. this fall (subject to change).
The Roadrunners, who were 4-6 in their inaugural campaign, set NCAA start-up program records for opening-game (56,743) and average season (35,521) attendance last fall.
