SAN ANTONIO — UTSA head baseball coach Sherman Corbett announced his program's 2012 schedule on Friday. The 55-game slate features 34 home games, including 28 at Roadrunner Field and six more at Wolff Stadium, which is home to the San Antonio Missions, the Double-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres.

UTSA will face seven teams that secured berths in the 2011 NCAA Tournament, including two that reached the Super Regional round (Dallas Baptist & Texas A&M) and one that advanced to the College World Series (Texas A&M).

"This season's schedule is challenging," Corbett said. "It features a lot of competitive clubs, but we are excited about playing a majority of the schedule at home."

Five of the seven NCAA participants — Dallas Baptist, Rice, TCU, Texas A&M and Texas State — recorded 40 or more wins a year ago, while New Mexico reached the 64-team field after winning the Mountain West Conference Tournament and Baylor earned an at-large bid.

The campaign begins with 10 of the first dozen games in the Alamo City.

The Roadrunners will host Louisiana-Monroe (Feb. 17-19) in a three-game series and New Mexico (Feb. 24-26) in a four-game set, both at the Bird Bath. The Birds will host the UTSA Classic for the first time since 2008 (March 2-4) at the Wolff after road games at Houston Baptist (Feb. 21) and future WAC opponent Dallas Baptist (Feb. 28). Gonzaga, Kansas and Louisiana-Lafayette will compete in the three-day event.

Southland Conference play begins with a three-game series at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (March 9-11).

The Roadrunners also will travel to Stephen F. Austin (March 23-25), McNeese State (April 5-7) and Central Arkansas (April 27-29) in their final season in the Southland.

UTSA will host league series against Northwestern State (March 16-18), Sam Houston State (March 30-April 1), UT Arlington (April 13-15), Southeastern Louisiana (April 20-22), Nicholls (May 4-6) and Lamar (May 17-19) at Roadrunner Field.

The annual I-35 rivalry series will take place from May 11-13. Texas State will host the bookends of the set, while Saturday's matchup will be played in San Antonio.

The midweek schedule is filled mainly with in-state teams, including a trip to Texas A&M on April 3. The Roadrunners also will travel to Rice (March 20), Texas-Pan American (April 10), Houston (May 1) and Baylor (May 15).

UTSA will host three midweek tilts at Wolff against TCU (March 13), Notre Dame (March 14) and Baylor (April 24). The Roadrunners also will host Texas-Pan American (March 27) and Houston Baptist (April 17) at the Bird Bath.

The Southland Tournament is slated for May 23-26 at Bobcat Field in San Marcos.
