CORPUS CHRISTI — The remainder of this weekend's Best Western Marina Grand Islanders Classic has been cancelled due to rain and unplayable field conditions. UTSA was scheduled to play Mississippi on Saturday, followed by contests against North Dakota and Texas Southern the next day.
The Roadrunners (5-8) split their two contests during Friday's opening day of play after defeating the Fighting Sioux, 6-4, before losing to Ole Miss, 12-2, in five innings.
UTSA will be back in action next weekend at the UTEP Invitational. The three-day tournament gets underway on Friday, March 2, in El Paso.
