Mitchell-Cole nominated for McDonald?s All-American Game

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA women’s basketball signee Niaga Mitchell-Cole recently was nominated to the McDonald’s All-American Game.

The senior from Roosevelt High School is the only player from San Antonio to make the list. Mitchell-Cole leads the Rough Riders with a double-double of 15.6 points and 10.8 rebounds per game this season. The 5-foot-10 guard is also averaging 5.8 steals, 4.8 assists and 3.7 blocks to lead the team in all five categories.

“The McDonald’s All-American Game presents the finest opportunity to preview the country’s best up-and-coming basketball talent,” said Morgan Wootten, McDonald’s All-American Games Selection Committee Chairman. “This year’s nominees represent some of the top student-athletes in the country. We are privileged to acknowledge these individuals for their success on the basketball court, in the classroom and in the community.”

A total of 24 girls will be selected to participate in the 2012 McDonald’s All-American Game and the teams will be revealed during the game’s selection show, which will air at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9, on ESPNU. The game will take place at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28, at the United Center in Chicago. It, too, will be broadcast on ESPNU.
