FRISCO — Sophomore Yannick Junger was named Southland Conference Player of the Week, the league office on Tuesday. It marks the second time this season the Stuttgart, Germany, native has earned the circuit's weekly award.
Junger collected a pair of victories in the 58th-ranked Roadrunners loss to No. 71 Middle Tennessee last Tuesday.
The 6-foot-4 right-hander won his fourth consecutive singles match after sweeping Ben Davis at the top spot. Meanwhile, Junger and senior teammate Pedro Zanotelli netted a 9-7 victory at No. 1 doubles earlier in the contest.
Junger, who previously was honored on Feb. 28, owns a team-best 8-4 record in singles action this spring.
UTSA returns to the courts at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Elon.
