FRISCO — Senior Caitlyn Ivy was named Southland Conference Hitter of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.
Ivy helped UTSA to a 3-3 record over the week, including a victory against Atlantic Coast Conference opponent North Carolina State. She hit .550 (11-for-20), including a grand slam, and also collected nine RBIs, while starting all six games at first base. The Huntington native recorded a .750 slugging percentage and coaxed a pair of walks for a .591 on-base percentage.
Ivy helped lead the Roadrunners to a doubleheader sweep of Texas Southern last Tuesday by hitting a combined .571 (4-for-7) with three runs scored. She hit her grand slam and set a career high with six RBIs in game two of the set against the Lady Tigers.
Additionally, junior Haylee Staton was an honorable mention selection for the conference's Pitcher of the Week award after going 1-1 with a save and a 1.11 ERA last week.
UTSA (4-7) will be back in action this weekend at the Best Western Marina Grand Islanders Classic in Corpus Christi. The Roadrunners will face North Dakota, Mississippi and Texas Southern at the three-day tournament that begins on Friday.
