FRISCO — Sophomore Jeromie Hill was named Southland Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Hill averaged 18.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game and shot 62.5 percent from the floor to help the Roadrunners to a 2-0 record in a pair of key league games last week.
The sophomore from Cairns, Australia, was 10-for-12 from the field and 4-of-5 at the free-throw line en route to 24 points and he added a game-high 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season in UTSA's 80-75 victory at I-35 rival Texas State on Saturday, which was the Roadrunners' first win in San Marcos since 2008.
The 6-foot-8 forward tallied 12 points and four boards in the 80-62 triumph against Northwestern State last Wednesday.
Hill is averaging 12.7 points and a team-best 6.5 rebounds per contest and shooting 48.2 percent, including 49 percent (25-of-51) from downtown, this season.
It marks the first career weekly award for the 2011 Southland Freshman of the Year and is the second for a Roadrunner this season. Junior guard Kannon Burrage collected Southland Player of the Week accolades on Nov. 21, 2011.
