MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama officials announced Wednesday that the 2012 football season opener with UTSA, originally scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 1, now will be played on Thursday, Aug. 30, at Ladd-Pebbles Stadium (kickoff time TBA).

The Jaguars defeated the Roadrunners, 30-27, in double overtime last fall at the Alamodome in the first of a home-and-home series between the two programs.

UTSA, which was 4-6 in its inaugural campaign, set NCAA start-up program records for opening-game (56,743) and average season (35,521) attendance a year ago.
