Dalton tabbed Southland Conference Hitter of the Week

SAN ANTONIO — Junior Ryan Dalton was named Southland Conference Hitter of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

Dalton saw his overall batting average rise more than 130 points after hitting .722 (13-for-18) last week with a pair of doubles, three home runs, eight RBIs and five runs scored. His 24 total bases translated to a 1.333 slugging percentage and he also reached base at a .714 clip.

The Sugar Land native recorded four multi-hit contests in the Roadrunners' five-game week, including a career-high four against Northwestern State on Sunday. He started the week with three hits, including a double, and an RBI against No. 29 TCU last Tuesday. The following night, Dalton had a double in his only at-bat against Notre Dame. He then homered in all three games against Northwestern State and drove in three runs in the final two games of the weekend series.

Dalton ranks second on the club with a .319 batting average (23-for-72) and owns team highs with four doubles, five homers, 20 RBIs and a .583 slugging percentage. The owner of 32 career round-trippers, he surpassed Trent Lockwood for fifth on the program's all-time home run list over the weekend.

UTSA (10-10) begins a four-game road trip on Tuesday at No. 5 Rice (15-4). First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Reckling Park.
