SAN ANTONIO — Head baseball coach Sherman Corbett announced Monday the signing of two student-athletes to National Letters of Intent.

Joining the Roadrunners for the 2013 season will be Brian Baker (Cedar Park, Texas/Vista Ridge HS) and Jaryd Hodgson (Bastrop, Texas/Bastrop HS/Mountain View JC).

Baker spent the first three years of his prep career at Stony Point HS in Round Rock but enrolled at Vista Ridge HS this year.

"I watched Brian throw at the South Texas Professional Scouts Showcase," Corbett said. "He showed a repertoire of pitches that separated himself from the rest of the group. Although he has had limited pitching experience, he has shown he has the stuff to be successful at our level."

Hodgson is the first player from the Mountain View program to sign with an NCAA Division I program.

"Jaryd is a legitimate left-handed arm that will help balance out our pitching staff," said Corbett, who is entering his 12th season this spring. "He is the number one guy on his team's pitching staff and brings quality pitches to the mound. I look forward to the opportunity to work with Jaryd and have him emerge as one of our top pitchers."
