SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA baseball team collected 16 hits, including seven doubles, and rolled to a 12-2, run-rule victory to complete the Conference USA sweep of Marshall on Sunday at Roadrunner Field. The win also marked the fourth consecutive for the Roadrunners.

UTSA (11-10, 3-2 C-USA) scored the final run of the game on Joshua Lamb's infield single with the bases loaded in the eighth inning.

Trent Bowles highlighted the Roadrunners' offensive outburst with a 3 for 5 performance that included three doubles, three runs scored and an RBI. Garrett Moon tallied two doubles and drove in a pair of runs, while Ben Brookover had two knocks, including a double and three RBIs.

All nine batters in the UTSA lineup tallied at least one hit, while six of the nine drove in at least one run.

Chance Kirby (2-2) won his second game this week following a strong start on the mound. The right-hander allowed only four hits and one run over six innings of work. Kirby also struck out three and walked one on 82 pitches (54 strikes).

The Roadrunners jumped out to a 3-0 lead after scoring one run in the second and two in the third.

The Thundering Herd (11-9, 1-5 C-USA) scored their first run in the top of the fourth inning. However, UTSA answered with five runs in the bottom of the panel to take control of the contest.

The Birds added three more in the sixth, while Marshall managed only one more score, a seventh-inning tally.

Will Ray (2-1) suffered his first loss of the season on the mound. The Thundering Herd starter gave up three runs on six hits and struck out three before being lifted from the game in the third inning.

UTSA, which outscored Marshall 27-7 in the three-game set, will begin a four-game road trip on Tuesday at Houston Baptist. The non-conference tilt is slated to start at 3 p.m.
