Men's tennis to compete at ITA Texas Regional this weekend

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men's tennis team will continue its fall season at the ITA Texas Regional Championships this weekend. The tournament is scheduled to begin Friday at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center in College Station and last through Monday, Oct. 23.
 
A quartet of Roadrunners will be sent to the event – Kai Breitbach, Gabriel Bugiga, Joao Ceolin and Juri Reckow. The event will consist of single and double draws.
 
Breitbach and Ceolin will team up to open the Round of 32 doubles draw against fifth-seeded Oscar Janglin and Eric Rutledge of Rice at 8 a.m. Friday.
 
Bugiga and Reckow drew UTRGV's Elliot Johnstone and Yehonatan Kaufman, also at 8 a.m. Friday.
 
In singles play, Breitbach, Bugiga and Reckow received a bye to the Round of 64. Ceolin will open the tournament in the Round of 128 against Abilene Christian's Paul Domanski at 9 a.m. Friday.
 
Reckow is scheduled to face Andre Russo of UT Arlington, while Breitbach drew the No. 2 seed in the tournament, Texas A&M's Jordi Arconada. Both Breitbach and Reckow will take the court at 10 a.m. Friday.
 
Meanwhile, Bugiga will await the Round of 128 matchup between Eduard Simon (UT Arlington) and Sebastian Santibanez (Lamar). He will face the winner at 12 p.m. Friday.
 
The team is coming off a solid performance at the UTSA Cup last weekend.
 
Breitbach won the singles Flight 1 title, while he and teammate Igor Cantanhede secured the Flight 2 doubles championship with a 3-0 record.
