UTSA softball to host five summer camps in June

SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA softball program will host five camps — Youth Camp, Hitting Camp, Pitching Camp, Defense Camp and All-Skills Camp — June 13-14 at Roadrunner Field. Limited spots remain for all five camps.

The camp schedule will start with the Youth Camp from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. on June 13. Campers ages 11 and under will receive infield, outfield and hitting instruction and will experience some of the everyday drills that the Roadrunners go through.

The Hitting Camp will run from 9-11 a.m. on June 13 and it is open to all ages. In this session, hitting mechanics and techniques will be taught the Roadrunners way. Through specific drills, campers will learn how to properly hit different pitches and will participate in live batting practice on the field.

Next is the Pitching Camp, which will focus on mechanics for different pitches, from 12-2 p.m. on June 13 for campers of all ages. There will be a heavy focus on balance and lower-half power drills, while the mental aspect of pitching also will be discussed throughout the camp. Campers must bring their own catcher for this session.

The Defense Camp will run from 9-11 a.m. on June 14 and it is open to campers age 12-18. The session includes instruction in different positions throughout the field. Campers will run through everyday drills that the Roadrunners do.

Finally, the All-Skills Camp is set for 3-7 p.m. on June 13 and 11:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. on June 14 and it is open to campers age 12-18. This session will give campers the full Division I college practice experience. Campers will be put through a series of infield, outfield and defensive drills as well as game-like situations. Hitters and pitchers will face live at-bats during the camp.

Cost for the Youth, Hitting, Pitching and Defense Camps is $100, while the All-Skills Camp is $200. Parking passes can be purchased for an additional $5.
