UTSA/Charlotte fan information guide

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA and the Alamodome released the following information for fans planning to attend the Roadrunners' football game against Charlotte that is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Saturday.
 


TRAFFIC
Heavy traffic congestion is anticipated in the Alamodome and downtown areas. Fans are strongly advised to plan to arrive at least one (1) hour prior to game time.
 


PARKING
All Alamodome parking lots require parking passes for UTSA football games. Alamodome Lots A, B and C will open at 8 a.m. for those who have Alamodome parking lot passes. Please do NOT enter the lots prior to 8 a.m. or staff will ask you to vacate your spot(s) and re-enter once the lots are open. A limited number of disabled parking spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

UTSA students, faculty and staff may park in any unmarked spaces on Saturdays at the Downtown Campus under IH-35.
 


TRANSPORTATION
Beginning at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, VIA will offer Park-and-Ride service from three (3) convenient locations:

• UTSA Main Campus — Park in Tobin Avenue Garage for free (click here for a map); pick up at corner of Tobin Avenue and Walter Brenan Avenue
• Crossroads Park & Ride (near I-10 & Loop 410 interchange on northwest side)
• Madla Transit Center (I-35 South & Cantrell Drive)

Please note that the Randolph Park & Ride on the northeast side no longer is in service for UTSA football games.

Return service will run for one hour following the end of the game.

Park & Ride Service is $2.50 each way, with discounts available for children, seniors, students and active-duty military members in uniform or with a VIA Reduced Fare ID. Cash and credit cards are accepted at Park & Ride locations. VIAtrans customers and children under five years old ride free. VIA bus passes are not valid for this service.

UTSA students with a valid ID may purchase tokens at a rate of $1.25 each way ($2.50 round trip). Students may ride a free shuttle to the Alamodome between 2-3 p.m. ONLY, which leaves from in front of Laurel Village. A token is required for the return trip.

In addition to the Park & Ride Service, VIA Primo (100) and VIVA centro (301) will be detoured to serve the Robert Thompson Transit Station at the Alamodome, beginning two and a half hours before kickoff and continuing for one hour after the game. The regular bus fare of $1.30 will apply. VIA bus passes will be accepted for trips on Primo and VIVA.

TICKETS
Tickets are available and may be purchased by calling (210) 458-UTSA (8872) or by visiting goUTSA.com. The Alamodome box office will open at 3:30 p.m. Doors will open to the public at 4:30 p.m. Construction in the North Plaza is complete and the northeast box office and north fan entrances will be open this Saturday.
 


GAME DAY EXPERIENCE
(New in 2016) The Spirit Walk begins two hours and 15 minutes before kickoff, or approximately at 3:45 p.m. and it has moved to a new location this season due to construction around the Alamodome. The UTSA football team will walk from Cherry Street east of the Alamodome down a path between Lots B and C and to the south end of the facility.

(New in 2016) Free entertainment will be provided by various partners of UTSA Athletics in Rowdy Town, which is located on the VIA Bridge, the newly-renovated North Plaza and the South Plaza.

 • The Marines and MilTribe will hold a Toys for Tots drive in North Plaza prior to the game. Fans are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy or cash donations that will go toward purchasing toys for children during the holidays.

• Corner Store (CST Brands Inc.) is providing 10,000 UTSA-branded mugs to be given out to fans as they exit the Alamodome following the conclusion of the game. The mugs include a coupon for a free drink refill that can be used at your local Corner Store through Dec. 31, 2016.

• Merchandise sales counters inside the Alamodome are located on the plaza and club level concourses.

• Additional concessions operations have been opened including mixed beverage locations on each open level of the Alamodome. Alcoholic beverages now can be carried between levels.

• A customer service text messaging system will be available throughout the UTSA football season. Customers who encounter difficulties with unruly fans or facilities maintenance issues may text 69050 to request immediate assistance from the Alamodome staff. All assistance texts must begin with the word "Alamo" and must include the type of request (i.e., spill or unruly fan) along with the Section, Row and Seat Number of the person requesting assistance.
