SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA men's and women's track & field teams will return to action for the first time in more than a month on Saturday when they compete at the Houston Opener. The Roadrunners will send a full contingent of athleties to the one-day meet, which will be contested at Bill Yeoman Fieldhouse on the campus of the University of Houston.

The action gets underway at 11 a.m. with the men's and women's weight throw. The remainder of the field events (high jump/shot put/pole vault/long jump/triple jump) will take place throughout the afternoon and into the evening. The running events are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. with the 60-meter hurdles and they will conclude six-and-a-half hours later with the 1,600m relay.

UTSA will compete against athletes from Houston, Houston Baptist, Lamar, Prairie View A&M, Sam Houston State, Stephen F. Austin, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas Southern and Texas State.

Nathan Collier successfully defended his mile crown to highlight the men at the season-opening Texas A&M Reveille Invitational back on Dec. 7. The senior from Pottsboro clocked a personal-best 4:14.36 to top the 11-man field and he defeated runner-up Drevan Anderson Kaapa (Houston) by more than three-and-a-half minutes.

Meanwhile, Ernestine Cray recorded a pair of personal bests to lead the women. The senior from Corpus Christi clocked a 7.89 in the 60-meter dash (17th place) before earning a bronze medal in the long jump with the fifth-best measurement in program history (19-5 ½/5.93m).
