UTSA To Face LSU Face In NCAA Tournament
UTSA (17-8) will make its fourth NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Championship appearance at 3 p.m. on Friday when it faces LSU (17-8) at Baylor’s Hurd Tennis Center in Waco. The winner will advance to the second round to face either Baylor (21-5) or Bryant (8-11). The Waco Regional winner and 15 others move on to the NCAA Championships that will be contested from May 14-19 back at the Hurd Tennis Center.

The Roadrunners enter the Waco Regional as the No. 3 seed and the 59th-ranked team in the country, while the Tigers are the No. 2 seed and No. 29 team nationally. Tournament host Baylor is the No. 1 regional seed and the No. 2 overall seed in the tournament.

UTSA knocked off No. 58 Old Dominion and No. 54 Rice to win the Conference USA Tournament and earn the league’s automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.

UTSA already has set a program record for victories and head coach Jeff Kader is making his second NCAA Tournament appearance in five seasons. He recently was named the C-USA Coach of the Year, while No. 1 singles player Tomas Stillman was named C-USA Player of the Year and Outstanding Singles Player of the Championship and sophomore Tito Moreiras was tabbed C-USA Newcomer of the Year.

Baseball To Wraps Up Home Season This Weekend
UTSA (28-20, 13-11 C-USA) will wrap up the home portion of its regular season slate with a three-game series this weekend against C-USA leader Middle Tennessee (28-20, 18-6 C-USA). The Roadrunners and Blue Raiders begin with Military Appreciation Night at 6 p.m. on Friday. Following a 2 p.m. game on Saturday, eight UTSA roster members will be honored in Senior Day ceremonies preceding Sunday’s game scheduled for noon.

UTSA will travel to Baylor for a non-conference showdown at 6:30 p.m. next Tuesday and the Roadrunners then close the regular season with a three-game series from May 14-16 at Charlotte.

UTSA currently sits in fourth place in the league standings. The top eight teams from the regular season standings advance to the C-USA Tournament, which will be contested from May 20-24 in Hattiesburg, Miss. The format includes two double-elimination brackets, with a single-elimination championship game.

Megan Low/Randee Crawford/Kendall Burton

West Champions Earn All-Conference USA Honors
First baseman Megan Low and designated player Randee Crawford earned first-team All-Conference USA honors and freshman outfielder Kendall Burton was selected to the second team and also was named to the C-USA All-Freshman Team, the league office announced earlier today.

Low becomes just the second player in program history to earn first-team all-league honors three times. The Spring native ranks third in C-USA with 16 home runs, second with 113 total bases and third with a .785 slugging percentage.

Meanwhile, Crawford leads the league with 18 home runs and 62 RBIs.

The Roadrunners wrapped up the C-USA West Division Championship with a three-game sweep of Louisiana Tech last weekend at home. No. 3 seed UTSA (35-7) will open play at this weekend's C-USA Tournament in Miami, Fla., at 5:30 p.m. (CT) on Thursday against sixth-seeded Louisiana Tech (31-18).

Ashaad Mabry/Triston Wade

Two Roadrunners Agree To Terms Following National Football League Draft
Defensive tackle Ashaad Mabry and safety Triston Wade agreed to terms to become the first UTSA football players to join National Football League franchises following this weekend's draft.

Mabry signed with the New Orleans Saints and Wade joined the Seattle Seahawks. Both will be competing for roster spots in preseason camps this summer.

“I’m happy that Ashaad and Triston will have a chance to continue their careers at the next level,” head coach Larry Coker said. “Their hard work and dedication has made this possible. This is a historic moment for our program and I am looking forward to seeing former Roadrunners in the NFL next season.”

Mabry and Wade join one other former UTSA student-athlete on an NFL roster.

Former track & field All-American Teddy Williams signed a free agent contract with the Dallas Cowboys back in July 2010 and he currently is a cornerback on the Carolina Panthers roster.
